EL Matrimonio y el SIDA
He leído hoy la noticia de que en Burundi hace falta presentar tests de HIV y demostrar que uno no tiene SIDA para poder casarse por la Iglesia. Se ve que el 70% de la población es Católica-Romana y se supone que un 6% es sero-positivo.
Supongo que el próposito de esta medida es el intentar disminuir las infecciones de SIDA al reducir supuestamente los contactos sexuales entre múltiples individuos. Pero me parece un tanto drástico e injusto. ¿Tú que crees?

¿Se lo exigen a los católicos que quieren casarse por la Iglesia o es una ley para todos los que quieren casarse sean de la religión que sean?
En cualquier caso me parece ridículo, primero porque las infidelidades han existido siempre y seguirán existiendo, y forman parte de la vida privada de cada individuo, donde ni la Iglesia ni el Estado tienen nada que legislar.
Y segundo, más de lo mismo, si alguien tiene que querer conocer el estado de salud de su futuro cónyuge es la pareja de éste , y ambos tienen derecho a preservar su intimidad.
¡Qué manía! Si pudieran controlarían hasta nuestros más íntimos pensamientos.
Teresa and Cati, I must disagree. In the first paragraph of the article it says they can still marry if they are HIV positive or not. The church doesn't even want to know the result. They just want proof that the partners have been tested. I think it is a great idea to promote awareness and curb the spread of the disease. The Church is doing damage in Africa by being anti-condom, but this is the right thing to do. SIDA is an epidemic in parts of Africa and I promote testing and anyone who encourages it. The Church required Cati and I to go to counseling, and it was a good idea. I didn't feel particularly violated, and they gave us sound relationship advice. In parts of the world where SIDA infection rates are close to 10%, I think getting tested should be essential before entering a relationship that could produce infected babies, or at best, soon-to-be orphans. Viva Ratzinger!

Sigo creyendo que quien debe animar al otro a hacerse el test del AIDS es la propia pareja, aunque quizás no venga mal que la Iglesia aconseje a los futuros contrayentes sobre la conveniencia de hacérselo, pero debería ser sólo eso UN CONSEJO, no una imposición.
